Congratulations to our Secondary students for the way they have started the year. There are many new faces in the corridor and the added vibrancy from the year 7/8 room. It is fantastic to see the learning and positive attitudes on display through the classrooms.
Success at MAS
I have attended some conferences and meetings over the last few weeks which have caused me to reflect on what a great place Maitland Area School is to work. We have worked really hard over the last few years to improve our outcomes for Senior Secondary students which has seen a big jump in successful SACE completion. Our students are now confidently applying for further education and gaining meaningful employment.
This year we are offering over twenty face-to-face SACE subjects directly at Maitland Area School.
We are also actively supporting a further nine subjects through Open Access College. Students are also undertaking VET courses at Certificate 11 and 111 level as well as school based apprenticeships and other industry programs.
This means that students at Maitland Area School have some amazing opportunities for a school of our size and these only present themselves when the whole school community is working together. Our staff and leaders are supportive of students and each other which allows us to develop flexible options to achieve success.
Thank you to everyone for their part and I look forward to this continuing and sharing similar success at the end of this year.
