Maitland Area School views homework as an important part of the learning environment. By building the habits of regularly completing homework students will have developed successful daily routines for use in further studies. It is an expectation that when homework is set, students will attempt to complete the tasks required of them.
To assist students develop these skills, students who do not attempt to complete homework tasks will be asked to attend the Lunchtime Homework Centre (LHC) in a designated area.
The LHC will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime (12:55pm) for students to attend and complete homework tasks. Staff members will be on hand to supervise the LHC and to make sure that work is being finished.
Opportunities will arise for students wishing to attend the LHC to complete work under supervision before it is due or who may not have access to the required resources at home.
A signed note from a parent explaining a valid reason for a student not completing homework is required to excuse students from attending the Lunchtime Home Centre.
