School Choirs

Students at MAS have access to the Festival Choir  in years 5-7.

The Festival Choir is run by IMS Music teacher Deb Schwartz. The choir learns the repertoire of the Adelaide Festival of Music and selected students perform at the Adelaide Festival Centre.

Congratulations to all students who performed at our recent School Music Concert, you should all be very proud of your effort and success.

I would like to thank the staff and parents of Maitland Area School for their continuous support of the Concert Band and choir programs. We are so fortunate to have the assistance of talented, passionate staff, community members and most of all wonderful parent support.

Students at the Mgaic MillionsOn the 23rd of August the Maitland Area School Festival choir travelled by bus with Ardrossan choir students to Magic Millions to rehearse with over 300 students for the Primary Music Festival .

Maitland choir members will be performing fourteen songs at the Festival theatre on Wednesday September 21st .

Congratulations to Ionah Warrior who has been selected as a soloist. Ionah will be featured speaking the Wongatha  language  in the finale number ‘Gundulla – We dance’.

The end of term 1 Whole School Assembly was held in the PAC today.

Run by the Junior SRC, it featured musical items, awards and lots of certificates.

The Festival Choir performed an amusing from this year's program that described the annoyance felt by Fairy Tale characters at the way their lives were lived.

The Year 10/11 band performed with the Junior Choir and had the audience singing along with versions of 'Surfing USA' and 'Dynamite'.

Special guest Megan Byssenschutt presented a number of certificates to FLO students. The Mini-Chefs group also received recognition.

Miss McPharlin announced Ron Edwards as the winner of the SRC photography competiton. He recieved a $20 gift certifcate.

The MAS Concert Band performed at the s011 Maitland Show on March 9th.

They followed rousing sets by the MAS Choirs and the Maitland Lutheran School Choir.

With cool weather and a good crowd it was a comfortable atmosphere for both the 'old hands' and the new 'rookies'.

Songs ranged from 'Beauty and the Beast' through 'George of the Jungle' and the band received a well deserved round of applause from the enthusiastic crowd.
