PostHeaderIcon Junior SRC

The Junior SRC is the student voice for the Junior School and is made up of 2 representatives (a boy and a girl) from each our classes, R–6. These representatives are elected at the beginning of each Year by having a class vote.

Junior_SRCWe may self nominate or be nominated by our peers.

Years 3–6 have to write an expression of interest saying why they believe they would be a good role model and representative for our class.

The Year 6 representatives are the Junior School Captains. Their responsibilities include chairing the SRC meetings, reporting on Junior School activities at whole school assemblies, welcoming visitors to our school and liaising with Mrs Hector and Mr Gravestock when we have to.

The SRC meets on a regular basis, the first few meetings dedicated to learning how meetings are run and electing the different office bearers.

The Year 4–6 representatives attend the National Young Leaders Day in Adelaide where they listen to various speakers who explain how to be a good leader. These speakers include athletes, authors, radio and TV personalities, executives and politicians. During the year the SRC runs various fundraising activities to raise money for different charities and to purchase items that the Junior School would like.

PostHeaderIcon SRC Induction Ceremony

Our 2010 Student Leaders’ Induction Ceremony was held in the school Recreation Centre last Thursday, February 11.

Our special guests were Ray Agnew, Mayor of Yorke Peninsula, Julie Elies, Chairperson of the Parents and Friends and Ben Wundersitz, Chairperson of the Governing Council

Congratulations to the House Captains, Prefects, SRC and Bus Monitors who were inducted. Ceremonies such as this are an important part of the school community recognising the young leaders that we have at our school. I was proud of the way that they presented themselves and know many others felt the same. Thankyou to all of the community members who joined us in this celebration.

PostHeaderIcon Operation Christmas Child

Today our Junior SRC was visited by a volunteer from Operation Christmas Child who spoke about the plight of many disadvantaged children over the world.  We watched a DVD about the program and decided to use some money we have raised throughout the year to buy gifts to fill some shoeboxes to send.
