Head prefects and Primary CaptainsThe 2012 MAS School Leaders' Induction Ceremony was held on Thursday 16 February in the Performing Arts Centre.

Special guests included: Brenda Bowman, Deputy Mayor of Yorke Peninsula; Tim Schwartz, Chairman of the Governing Council; Marie Wheare, President of the Parents and Friends and Zac Rawlings, our guest speaker.

The ceremony opened with the Welcome to Country by Kirsty Weetra.

Zac, who was a Prefect at MAS in 2008, then spoke passionately and succinctly about his career as an Audio and Lighting Engineer. Building on his experiences at school and in the local community, Zac first gained a traineeship at the Adelaide Convention Centre and is currently the senior technician at Westminster School. He encouraged students to work hard, find a passion in life and take advantage of the experiences that school offers.

Our four Prefects, Nicole Walker, Nikki Benyo, Maddsion Briggs and Liam Thatcher were then inducted. They read the Prefects' Endeavour together with Nicole, as Head Prefect, making the response to the audience.

Secondary Coordinator Leigh Rothe and Deputy Mayor Brenda Bowman then presented the Secondary SRC badges.

The Primary SRC badges were presented by Primary School Coordinator Beth Hector and Marie Wheare

SAASTA Presentations

The SASSTA TeamSAASTA Coordinator Melissa McPharlin then announced the MAS SAASTA team for 2012. Many of the team's families were in the audience to see them join their peers on the stage.

Principal Andrew Gravestocks and Coordinator Vanessa Secomb presented the House Captain badges.

Finally, in the last of the presentations, Mr Gravestocks and Mrs Moloney presented the Bus Monitor badges.

Head Prefect Nicole Walker then closed the ceremony, thanking families, staff and students for their attendance.

Following the ceremony, school leaders and their families enjoyed morning tea provided by Home Economics teacher Anna Taheny and her students.
