Student Representative Council
The 2012 MAS School Leaders' Induction Ceremony was held on Thursday 16 February in the Performing Arts Centre.
Special guests included: Brenda Bowman, Deputy Mayor of Yorke Peninsula; Tim Schwartz, Chairman of the Governing Council; Marie Wheare, President of the Parents and Friends and Zac Rawlings, our guest speaker.
The ceremony opened with the Welcome to Country by Kirsty Weetra.
Zac, who was a Prefect at MAS in 2008, then spoke passionately and succinctly about his career as an Audio and Lighting Engineer. Building on his experiences at school and in the local community, Zac first gained a traineeship at the Adelaide Convention Centre and is currently the senior technician at Westminster School. He encouraged students to work hard, find a passion in life and take advantage of the experiences that school offers.Run by the Junior SRC, it featured musical items, awards and lots of certificates.
The Festival Choir performed an amusing from this year's program that described the annoyance felt by Fairy Tale characters at the way their lives were lived.
The Year 10/11 band performed with the Junior Choir and had the audience singing along with versions of 'Surfing USA' and 'Dynamite'.
Special guest Megan Byssenschutt presented a number of certificates to FLO students. The Mini-Chefs group also received recognition.
Miss McPharlin announced Ron Edwards as the winner of the SRC photography competiton. He recieved a $20 gift certifcate.
On sports day students were given the opportunity to participate in the SRC Photography challenge. It was a treasure hunt to see if they could collect photos of events throughout the day!
Congratulations to all of the students who entered and down loaded their photos! From the students who entered the competition there have been four chosen to be in the running to win the $20 voucher to the toy store.
