On Thursday the 10th November the R-7 classes of Maitland Area School celebrated Nude Food Day. Our students were asked to bring a healthy, non-packaged lunch to school. Any orders from the canteen were also in minimal packaging. Nude Food Day was a chance for our students to come together and learn what they can do for their health and the health of the planet. An event like this can give all of us a taste of the benefits, ease and fun involved in packing a healthy lunch!
Some interesting discussions about packaging and waste occurred in a number of classes, with Year 5s undertaking a waste audit with Miss Taheny.
Mrs Moloney visited classes and gave stickers and a raffle ticket to students who participated.A special thankyou to Mrs Polgreen in the canteen who donated three lunchboxes as raffle prizes. These lunchboxes are available for purchase from the canteen.Lunchboxes can be used on a daily basis for lunches brought from home or for canteen-ordered lunches. Using these lunchboxes also assists with less waste reducing the number of brown paper bags in our bins
